BASED on a true story, this harrowing and gripping story set during Rwanda's genocide is a must see.

More than 800,000 Rwandans were brutally massacred in 100 days in 1994 as rival Tutsi and Hutus ripped the country apart in a brutal civil war.

Directed by Michael Caton-Jones, the film focuses on a school run by the experienced Catholic priest John Hurt and his idealistic English teacher Hugh Dancy Hugh Dancy (born 19 June 1975) is an English actor. Biography
Early life
Dancy was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, the son of eminent British philosopher Jonathan Dancy, a professor at the University of Reading and the University of Texas at Austin.

As neighbour turns on neighbour and the genocide starts to erupt around them, the school becomes a haven for fleeing families.

A small detachment of Belgian UN troops, there to monitor the peace, are based at the school but remain powerless to stop the bloodshed happening outside.

As the UN bickers over the definition of genocide, entire communities are brutally wiped out.

A damning indictment of the world's apathy, this is uncomfortable viewing with strong lead performances, especially from Hurt. ****
