Country passing through very critical phase: Shahbaz Sharif.

LAHORE, 27 April, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Monday visited Rangers Headquarters Punjab. Director General Punjab Rangers, Maj. Gen. Muhammad Yaqub Khan gave detailed briefing about security steps in the province and professional matters of Punjab Rangers. While talking during the briefing, the Chief Minister said that the country is passing through a very critical phase of the history and will have to be united for the solidarity and security and meeting challenges facing by the entire nation. He said that the responsibilities of the law enforcing agencies have increased in the present situation. He said that maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of the people is the top priority of the government and all resources are being utilized for this purpose. The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved for eliminating terrorism and extremism under which not only modern training is being imparted to the police but it is also being equipped with modern weapons. He said that a substantial increase has been made in the salaries and allowance of the police so that they could perform their duties with hard-work, devotion and honesty for promoting sense of security among the people and maintaining peaceful atmosphere. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while appreciating the professional abilities of Punjab Rangers and security arrangements in the province said that Punjab government will extend all possible cooperation for improving the performance of the rangers. He also directed to constitute a committee which will review the problems being faced by the Rangers and will soon submit its recommendations for their solutions.
