:IUSA IUSA Indiana University Student Association ) announced today that the results of the CNN/Essence Magazine/Opinion Research Corporation Poll conducted March 26 - April 2, 2008 indicated that the country is ready for both a black and a woman president.

The poll showed that 76% of respondents In the context of marketing research, a representative sample drawn from a larger population of people from whom information is collected and used to develop or confirm marketing strategy.  said "yes" when asked if the country was ready for a black president (69% of black respondents and 78% of white respondents). When asked if the country was ready for a woman president, 63% of total respondents also said "yes" (59% of black respondents and 65% of white respondents).

Opinion Research Corporation interviewed 2,184 adult Americans, including an oversample of African-Americans, by telephone on March 26 - April 2, 2008 for this study. The margin of sampling error for results based on the total sample is plus or minus 2 percentage points. The sample also includes 1,014 interviews among African-Americans (+/- 3 percentage points) and 1,001 non-Hispanic whites (+/- 3 percentage points). Only respondents who described themselves as white in a question on racial background and did not describe themselves as Hispanic or Latino in a separate question on ethnicity ethnicity Vox populi Racial status–ie, African American, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic  were included in the results for "Whites". "Blacks" refer to all respondents who described themselves as black or African-American regardless of their ethnic background.
