Country Fair sends ripples through area.

Byline: BUZZWORTHY The Register-Guard

The Oregon Country Fair The Oregon Country Fair (OCF) is a three-day fair that takes place yearly beginning on the Friday of the second weekend in July in Veneta, Oregon, approximately 15 miles west of Eugene, with an attendance of approximately 45,000 over the three day period, with attendance peaking  turns 39 this year. And after her 17th year as general manager, Leslie Scott Leslie Scott may refer to:
  • Leslie Scott (UK politician) (1869–1950), Conservative MP 1910–1929, Solicitor-Gneral 1922
  • Leslie Scott, clarinettist with the Steve Reich Ensemble
 is stepping down.

Like she's always said, everything is new at the fair every year. That's pretty true. Even veteran performers contribute new material, adventures and stories.

People have long believed that energy generated at the fair resonates out into the larger world and makes it a better place. That is now true in the literal and provable way, as solar energy solar energy, any form of energy radiated by the sun, including light, radio waves, and X rays, although the term usually refers to the visible light of the sun.  harvested at the fair goes back into the power grid.

The fair is one of those things that's somewhat futile to talk or write about. You just have to experience it. So we'll stop and move on to other things.

Yes, there are other things going on. And no, not everyone and their momma goes to the fair. Of course one of the better shows in town exists because the fair drew the artists to the area, but who's counting?

Floater Floater

plays Secret House Vineyards again tonight. We are really happy for this Eugene-born band. They keep playing and playing and people keep going to their shows.

Floater hasn't been around for as long as Scott has been general manager of the Oregon Country Fair, but it's pretty close.

Another band that's been together even longer than Floater is remarkable for many reasons. Here Comes Everybody formed in 1986, the same year high school sweethearts Michael Jarmer and Ren Ormae (now Ormae-Jarmer) got hitched.

The love birds are still sweet on each other and continue to make sweet music. At Luckey's tonight, they bring a new project of songs from a disciplined songwriting process called a lodge.

An innovation even fair organizers might applaud.
