GLASTONBURY, Conn. -- Banks Move Item Imaged Processing to Open Solutions' Connecticut and New York Processing Centers

Open Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: OPEN), a provider of integrated enabling technologies for community financial institutions, announced that Ware, MA based Country Bank for Savings ($1 billion in assets with thirteen branches) and Savings Bank of Danbury ($500 million in assets with eight branches) headquartered in Danbury, CT have implemented Open Solutions' item imaged solution for check processing via Open Solutions' Simsbury, CT processing center. In addition, Greater Buffalo Savings Bank ($700 million in assets) based in Buffalo, NY is taking advantage of full item image services offered through Open Solutions' Utica, NY processing center.

Through collaboration with the Federal Reserve, Open Solutions is now delivering outsourcing solutions for image based item processing that positions financial institutions for Check 21 image exchange. This collaboration combines the availability of an early morning electronic check presentment (ECP) posting file, multi-channel image accessibility via national archives from Open Solutions and the Federal Reserve, and on-line returns processing utilizing the FedLine for the Web. Most traditional item processing centers receive their physical inclearing items from the Federal Reserve, and then re-balance to ensure accuracy. As a result of Open Solutions' relationship with the Federal Reserve, the need for a second balancing run has been eliminated.

Other key services provided include image inclearing through the Federal Reserve, remote branch image capture, image archival and statement rendering for printed and electronic delivery of image statements.

Remote Branch Image Capture provides financial institutions with the ability to capture check images and MICR at the point of presentment.
