Countdown to Canada: 2007 Collaborative Conference * March 23-27 * Toronto, Ontario.


The 2007 MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association
MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) 
 Conference in Toronto, Ontario, March 23-27, at the Sheraton Centre Toronto will be the first joint effort of MTNA, The Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations and the Royal Conservatory of Music Royal Conservatory of Music may refer to:
  • The Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, Belgium
  • The Madrid Conservatory (Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid), Spain
  • The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, Denmark
  • The Royal Academy of Music, London
. This Collaborative Conference, as it will be referenced because of the partnership, will begin on Friday morning and culminate with the Conference Gala on Tuesday evening.

Highlights of the conference will include:

* Five full days of educational sessions and industry showcases

* Evening concerts featuring pianist Yefim Bronfman Yefim "Fima" Bronfman (born April 10, 1958) is a Jewish-born Russian-Israeli pianist.

He was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and emigrated to Israel at the age of 15. He now has US citizenship.
, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra The Toronto Symphony Orchestra is a Canadian orchestra. 400,000 people attend its live performances each year and it is often broadcast over CBC Radio 2. It was founded in 1922 and plays in Roy Thomson Hall. It previously played in Massey Hall from 1923 to 1982.  with pianist Jane Coop and student soloists with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra

* Master classes by artists Jane Coop, David Wehr and Marvin Blickenstaff

* Free pre-conference workshop Pedagogy Friday, focusing on student evaluation and assessment in the studio

* National competitions finals showcasing the talents of students from the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Conference Artist, Yefim Bronfman

Yefim Bronfman is widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianists performing today. His commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide, whether for his solo recitals, his prestigious orchestral engagements or his rapidly growing catalogue of recordings.

Saturday, March 24: Plenary Session Plenary session is a term often used in s to define the part of the conference when all members of all parties are in attendance.

These sessions may contain a broad range of content from Keynotes to Panel Discussions and are not necessarily related to a specific style of delivery.
 

Keynote Speaker, James Jordan

James Jordan is one of the nation's pre-eminent conductors, writers and innovators in choral music. He has produced 10 major textbooks and several choral series bearing his name, as well as contributed to four other textbooks.

Keynote Speaker, Bramwell Tovey

Bramwell Tovey is an English-born conductor and composer. He is the music director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is a Canadian orchestra performing in Vancouver, British Columbia. Over 240,000 people attend its live performances each year. It was founded in 1919 and plays in 12 venues. Its home is the Orpheum theatre.  and has been involved with a number of television programs related to music and with a number of youth ensembles and concerts.
