The Labour politician, who owns a jewellery shop in the city, said there was a danger burglars would use pawn shops to sell stolen property. He added: "We don't pawn jewellery in our own shop but I am concerned about the lack of regulation in this country on this activity because it really is nothing more than money lending. "I would also be worried burglars would use these stores to fence their goods." |
