The environmental measure was a huge success last year and now more money is being made available. The Kirklees Council cabinet will decide later today when it meets in Huddersfield to issue free water butts to Kirklees residents. A similar scheme in 2008, costing pounds 30,000, saw the full number of 900 allocated in just 90 minutes. The large demand has led to a further pounds 25,000 being allocated by the council this year in order to give more people the opportunity to have a free water butt Wa´ter butt` 1. He said: "This is another chance for more householders in Kirklees to have a free water butt to enable them to gather rainwater for garden watering.
