services will switch to Huddersfield Library.

Huddersfield Tourist Information Centre tourist information centre tourist (Brit) nTouristen-Informationszentrum nt  on Albion Street shuts at noon on Friday.

Visitor information and ticket sales will be available from the revamped library foyer from October 26.

Ticket sales and a limited information service will be available in Huddersfield Town Hall from October 17 to October 23 while the library foyer is upgraded.

A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said yesterday: "Huddersfield Library is one of the busiest in West Yorkshire West Yorkshire, former metropolitan county, N central England. Created in the 1974 local government reorganization, the county largely embraced the Leeds conurbation and comprised five metropolitan districts: Calderdale, Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, and Kirklees.  and had 541,000 visits last year. The relocated service will offer a ticket booking service for Town Hall and local events and information about attractions in Huddersfield.

"A survey of tourist information centre customers and library visitors this summer found 70% thought the library move was the best option.

"The library already has a disabled ramp and is home to the Kirklees Transcription Service for the visually-impaired. Better signs to the ramp and improved signage will be provided.

"Two new large display boards are to be situated on the Piazza, which is one of the busiest areas of Huddersfield.

They will have a bookable area for displays and lots of space for information about local events.

They will also be lit at night using residual solar energy."
