The Government has announced that finance experts are to be sent to three councils, including Tamworth Tamworth, city (1991 pop. 63,260) and district, Staffordshire, W central England. But the leader of Tamworth Borough Council issued an angry statement insisting the authority's finances were in good health. The authority had not asked for experts to help sort out its finances, and he had no idea why Tamworth and been targeted for support, he said. There has been speculation that some councils could be forced to cut services or even delay paying staff salaries for losing money in Iceland. |
