Council on Competitiveness to Unveil Study Showing Supercomputing Boosts Global Competitiveness and Innovation.Study Shows Increased Return on Investment When Government Shares Supercomputing Resources with the Private Sector, Contributing to Economic and National Security
WHAT: The Council on Competitiveness will release a pioneering
study on public-private partnerships that leverage
supercomputing resources funded by the federal government for
greater industry strength. Industry participants in the study,
which included energy, aerospace, automotive, and software
companies, reported that access to powerful supercomputers and
necessary technical expertise provided breakthroughs that can
result in superior products for the government and the private
sector. The study evaluated several industrial partnerships
with universities currently sponsored by the Department of
Energy, under the auspices of the National Nuclear Security
Administration/Office of Advanced Simulation and Computing.
The new study shows that, overall, the 12 businesses that
participated with the universities have received substantial
value by boosting their innovation and global competitiveness.
