Council chiefs said they were facing testing times ahead to provide levels of service for tax payers and would not rule out the possibility of redundancies. Wrexham's finances have been squeezed because of a wide range of factors including demands on children's services, income loss over charges such as planning fees, and less interest being paid by banks on money which is invested. A consultation exercise with the public is planned as the council prepares its strategy. A long list of possible savings is now being drawn up. Also on the list are the possibility of reducing mental health support to schools, with alternative funding being sought to minimise the impact. |
