Council bid to get kids active in holidays.

, a Kirklees Council scheme to get more children active, is planning a busy summer holiday.

Week-long dance and drama courses for seven to 11 year olds are being held at Holmfirth Civic Hall, Monday 27-Friday 31 July, 10am-1pm, and at Brian Jackson Brian Jackson is the name of:
  • Brian Jackson (cricketer), a former cricketer for Derbyshire
  • Brian Jackson (footballer), a professional footballer during the 1950s
  • Brian Jackson (keyboardist), a musician known mostly for his work in the 1970's with Gil Scott-Heron
 Centre, Huddersfield, Monday 3-Friday 7 August, 2pm-5pm.

Both courses, which finish with a performance on the last day, cost pounds 35 (Kirklees Passport holders pounds 26.25) per child.

There will also be three weeks of one-off taster sessions, with different activities each day. On Mondays there will be aerobics and team games team games npljeux mpl d'équipe

 (7-11 years), on Tuesdays cheerleading (7-11 years), street dance on Wednesdays (7-11 years) and Thursdays (11-16 years) and Shokk body combat, including choreography, on Fridays (11-16 years).

The sessions are being held at Brian Jackson Centre, Monday 27 to Friday 31 July, 2pm-5pm; Holmfirth Civic Hall, Monday 3 to Friday 7 August, 10am-1pm, and Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre, Cleckheaton, Monday 10 to Friday 15 August, 2pm-5pm.
