Cost is Not Always the Most Important Factor but Changing Suppliers is a Reality for Corporate Travel Managers Today.

AirPlus International Releases Monthly Survey Results

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- AirPlus International, a global provider of corporate travel payment solutions, releases the July edition of The WireOfrom AirPlus. This month, corporate travel professionals were asked to weigh cost versus other criteria in the selection of preferred suppliers. Over two-thirds (76%) found that cost and savings criteria gained importance over the last six months. Not surprisingly, cost ranked highest in importance with the selection of airline, hotel and rental car supplier. However, cost ranked much lower in importance for selecting travel management companies (TMCs) and payment solutions, where data reporting was valued as most important. "The survey illustrates that change is a reality in today's economic climate; with 77% making changes to hotel suppliers, 55% airline suppliers, 36% rental car suppliers and 29% changing their TMC's as a result," said Richard Crum, President of AirPlus International, Inc. "However, the payment supplier category changed the least, with only 26% of those surveyed making changes. At AirPlus, we are pleased that corporate travel managers recognize that their payment solution should not be judged by cost alone. Data and reporting functionality are truly valuable and at AirPlus, we are the best in the business. Our ability to combine multiple data sources into one robust, yet simple data and analysis tool, the AirPlus Information Manager, truly sets us apart."

The WireOfrom AirPlus is a monthly report on the pulse of the industry and its relevant topics. Results of this edition are based on a survey of 147 travel management professionals in North America and Europe in June/July 2009.

AirPlus International provides savings to over 32,000 customers worldwide through a suite of business travel payment solutions which include central bill accounts, corporate cards and online management tools.
