Cost Plus World Market Premiers Its 1st Store in Wisconsin; West Coast Retailer Opens Its 60th Store.


MADISON, Wisc.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 1997--Cost Plus Inc. will premiere its winning combination of Home Decor and Home Entertaining "World Market" stores on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 9:00 a.m.

This addition will mark the first store in Wisconsin and the 60th store for Cost Plus, which currently operates throughout the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Cost Plus targets its product selection to reflect the broad consumer trends in the 1990s which include an emphasis on more casual lifestyles, an increased investment in the home and greater focus on value.

The company's four key product categories include (1) home decor including furniture, rugs and baskets, (2) tabletop items including glassware, ceramics and kitchen, (3) gift items such as bath accessories, candles and seasonal items and (4) consumable items such as wine, gourmet goods, coffee and teas. The company believes that breadth and depth of assortment in its selected casual living categories position Cost Plus as a destination store.
