Corus Packaging Plus, Valspar form alliance.

Corus Packaging Plus and Valspar have formed a joint polymer coatings development program, with the main objective being of expanding Corus' Protact polymer-coated steel business and providing the market with a range of high-performance, customized coated metal systems. The agreement was born out of a shared vision of the future potential that polymer coatings for steel packaging bring to various markets.

Polymer-coated steel from Corus Packaging Plus is an established packaging material and Corus is committed to accelerate its usage and expand into new applications. "Valspar and Corus Packaging Plus each bring something unique to this relationship. We bring unparalleled knowledge about the manufacturing of the material and its processing, and Valspar brings expertise in coatings for rigid metal packaging," said Malcolm McOmish, managing director of Corus Packaging Plus. "Utilizing this joint expertise allows us to set the standard for polymer-coated packaging steel."

Corus Packaging Plus markets its polymer-coated steel for packaging applications mainly under the brand name Protact. Protact is used in a packaging applications including food cans, closures, aerosol components and paint can rings and bottoms, it also produces Ferrolite, a polymer-coated steel, used for aerosol components.
