Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 18, 2002

Corsair Memory Corsair Memory is a company which produces computer memory, primarily for the computer enthusiast crowd, although they also produce a value line called "Value Select." Its memory has a reputation in the enthusiast community as high quality, both in terms of performance and , Inc., today announced the availability of PC2700 DDR SDRAM See DDR.  modules based on the newly-released JEDEC The division of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) that deals with semiconductor standards (officially, the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association of EIA). JEDEC was formed in 1958 when the Joint Electron Tube Engineering Council (JETEC) split into two Joint Electron Device  specification and reference design. Unbuffered modules of 256 Megabytes and 512 Megabytes in size have been developed, and are available immediately.

The new PC2700 design differs from previous PC2100 designs by adding series resistors on the address and control signals. Simulation studies have shown that these resistors greatly improve the noise immunity of the module, enhancing system stability. Many new computer motherboards and chip sets are specifically designed for use with PC2700 memory.

Two JEDEC PC2700 modules are available immediately. The first, part number CM64SD256-2700, is an unbuffered, non-ECC DDR (Double Data Rate) Refers to an SDRAM memory chip that increases performance by doubling the effective data rate of the frontside bus. For more details, see SDRAM.
