Corsair Announces New Release of Wireless Prepaid Billing System.

Corsair Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:CAIR) today announced the general availability and deployment of release 5.5.8 of the PrePay(TM) wireless prepaid billing system for Ericsson TDMA infrastructure.

The new software provides substantially higher performance, improved server efficiency, and increased throughput and scalability for cellular operators implementing new prepaid subscriber billing systems.

The Corsair PrePay billing system is based upon the emerging Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) standards and uses IS41c messaging and SS7 signaling to set up and route wireless prepaid calls without the need for an adjunct switch. Subscribers notice that call setup takes place without delay, while carriers can implement their prepaid service offerings without using dedicated handsets, service bureaus or hardware-intensive voice-trunk-based systems.

The system is extremely flexible, supporting multiple rating plans and tax structures, as well as offering a subscriber interface through an interactive voice response system.
