Corriente Resources Inc. Announces High-Grade Gold Veins Discovered At Famatina, Argentina.

VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1999--

Corriente (TSE:CTQ.) has completed an in-house interpretation of surface geology and drill intercepts at the Famatina project, La Rioja Province, Argentina. Based on this work there are seven new vein targets with a total of twelve interpreted mineralized blocks. This interpretation suggests the Mexicana vein camp extends dramatically to the north and west from the small area of original workings, which date back to the turn of the century. The new mineralized blocks are contained in veins that range in length up to one kilometre and show mineralization over vertical dimensions of at least 300 metres. This compares to previous workings, which show vein lengths of up to 400 metres and vertical extent of 200 metres. In general, the new veins are open along strike and down dip, which provides significant exploration potential. The following table summarizes the results of this interpretation, which is based on drilling carried out by Rio Tinto during the mid-1990's.

This table is not to provide information regarding ore reserves or even mineral resources but is simply an indication of target size based on widely spaced drill holes combined with surface and underground geological mappiwidth of 1 metre. Core lengths of the existing drill intercepts range from 2 to 4 metres, however mapping of old workings suggests that a typical true width would be approximately one metre and this number was adopted for the interpretation for all veins except Vein H. Apart from two cases where more information was available, the interpreted mineralized blocks have been assigned a strike length of 200 metres and a dip extent of 200 metres, which are both less than or equal to historical vein dimensions.

Corriente is planning a 2000 metre initial drill program to test these new high grade veins and work will start on preparation of drill sites as soon as equipment can be mobilized to the property. The purpose of this program will be to selectively test the new vein interpretation with a series of closely spaced drill holes.
