Ore grade is used to assess the economic feasibility of a mining operation: the cost of extracting a natural material from its ore is directly  core were reported. These results are from holes CH-1 to 3 which are located in the South Zone and from hole CH-4 which is located approximately 400 metres to the east in the North Zone. The geology of Chama as indicated by the drill hole data, continues to support the potential of the property. Large intersections of quartz quartz, one of the commonest of all rock-forming minerals and one of the most important constituents of the earth's crust. Chemically, it is silicon dioxide, SiO2.  and quartz-breccia mineralization were noted in the drill holes (exceeding 100 metres).  zones at surface returned gold values of 1 to 2 g/t over 90 metres. Similar widths of this type of alteration and mineralization were intersected in the drill holes but the grades were in the 0.1 to 0.5 g/t range typically.

The focus for the next round of holes is on several of the numerous structural targets on the property. These structural zones (faults) may have acted as channels for the mineralizing solutions on the Chama property. Further targets are being readied for drilling in the Chama area including three newly discovered quartz-alunite zones. Corriente Resources expects that at least thirty drill holes will be needed just to test the existing targets on the property. The next phase of results is expected by the end of the month.
