TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 2001

Corrent Teams With Key Vendors to Provide High Performance

Reference Solutions Based On Socket Armor(TM) Products

Corrent Corp., the industry's leading gigabit-speed Internet security silicon solutions provider, today announced the development of two PCI-based reference solutions for its Socket Armor(TM) CR7020 and CR7000 security processors.

The CR7020VSAP VSAP Vendor-Specific Authentication Protocol
VSAP Victorian Students' Aid Program (Melbourne, Australia)
VSAP Virtual Socket Association Protocol
and CR7000VSAP are fully integrated hardware and software development platforms which allow customers to develop secure SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data.  and IPsec solutions at gigabit and higher data rates. These flexible platforms, available from Corrent partners Kontron and Certicom, come complete with software library, API and device drivers.

The boards shorten product development time and are available to OEMs for use in custom designs.

The boards use Corrent's Key Blaster(TM) technology to enable 5000 RSA (1) (Rural Service Area) See MSA.

(2) (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) A highly secure cryptography method by RSA Security, Inc., Bedford, MA (www.rsa.com), a division of EMC Corporation since 2006. It uses a two-part key.
key decrypts per second (1024-bit modulus with CRT (1) (C RunTime) See runtime library.

(2) (Cathode Ray Tube) A vacuum tube used as a display screen in a computer monitor or TV. The viewing end of the tube is coated with phosphors, which emit light when struck by electrons.
) in e-commerce transactions using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS (1) (Transport Layer Security) A security protocol from the IETF that is based on the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 3.0 protocol developed by Netscape. TLS uses digital certificates to authenticate the user as well as authenticate the network (in a wireless ) standards.

In addition, the CR7020VSAP provides gigabit-speed SSL/TLS SSL/TLS Secure Socket Layer/Transport Security (IETF)  performance by taking advantage of the high-speed, streaming encryption capabilities native to the CR7020 processor. Both boards can also be used in virtual private network (VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks. ) applications using the Internet Protocol Security architecture (IPsec) supporting up to 3,400 Main Mode tunnels per second.

"Our customers are looking to get to market as quickly as possible," said Mark Gordon, vice president of marketing of Corrent Corp. "Corrent focuses on providing the necessary hardware and software building blocks to enable the integration of our products into OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  equipment.

"We are expanding these building blocks by offering fully validated products that take advantage of Kontron's manufacturing and design capabilities and Certicom's proven SSL software stack. Our partner strategy allows us to provide different levels of integration choices for our customers."

Kontron, a global leader in embedded computer technologies, jointly designed and developed the CR7020VSAP and CR7000VSAP. Kontron plans to offer production-quality SSL accelerator cards based on Socket Armor products through its own OEM and integrator channels. The accelerator card is capable of providing encryption and decryption at gigabit line speeds and will be available in Q1 of 2002.

"We are pleased that Corrent's components allow us to increase the performance of our accelerator cards, particularly for our high-end equipment," said Benoit Robert, director of product management at Kontron. "Our customers demand faster encryption speeds as SSL usage continues to grow."

), a worldwide leader in SSL and wireless security technologies, also plans to provide a product utilizing the performance capabilities of Corrent's Socket Armor products. Based around the CR7020VSAP, Certicom will make available a version of its SSL Plus(TM) software product that will optimally run with Corrent's CR7020.

"Certicom provides the industry with the leading commercial SSL toolkit used by companies such as Agilent, BEA BEA - Basic programming Environment for interactive-graphical Applications, from Siemens-Nixdorf. , Citrix, iPlanet, Nortel, Oracle and Sybase and has worked with Corrent to optimize performance of SSL Plus technology running on the CR7020," said Greg Sigel, senior director, business development of Certicom.

"This combination of technologies not only enables acceleration of public key cryptography An encryption method that uses a two-part key: a public key and a private key. To send an encrypted message to someone, you use the recipient's public key, which can be sent to you via regular e-mail or made available on any public Web site or venue.  but also enables fast record processing, a key component required to achieve gigabit performance." Corrent-optimized SSL Plus software will be available from Certicom starting in early 2002.

The reference development platform consists of a PCI card with a Socket Armor security processor and complete schematics for easy design integration. The included software library and API with its unique layered software architecture and ANSI C implementation provides complete flexibility and portability for the system developer.

In addition to Corrent's software library, Certicom's optimized version of SSL Plus(TM) software along with an interface for OpenSSL, is available. The initial release of the software supports the Linux operating system.

Pricing for the CR7020VSAP and CR7000VSAP are $999 and $899 respectively in high-volume quantities and will be available in early 2002.
