In our story about Fidel Castro's love affair with Hollywood ("Castro's Casting Couch The casting couch is a euphemism for a sociological phenomenon that involves the trading of sexual favors by an aspirant, apprentice employee, or subordinate to a superior, in return for entry into an occupation, or for other career advancement within an organization. ," April), we reprinted a quote from Steven Spielberg--characterizing an evening with Castro as "the most important eight hours of my life"--that originated in the Cuban press and was later picked up by several media outlets, including Agence France-Press and the National Review. It appears that the quote may have been fabricated fab·ri·cate

Additionally, in April's "Tilting At Windmills" column, Charles Peters incorrectly cited Susan Antilla's Tales From the Boom-Boom Room as the source for the quote "I got some of my best information through pillow talk," attributed to broker Nikki Haskell. In fact, the quote comes from an interview conducted by The New York New York, state, United States
