Corrections. In our July 2003 Newspoints item, "Black Leadership: The Next Generation," we inadvertently omitted identifying Bill Fletcher Jr. Fletcher, 49, was named CEO of the TransAfrica Forum last year, succeeding organization founder Randall Robinson. Also, the subject of a photo accompanying the same article is misidentified as Melanie L. Campbell, executive director of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation. The photo is actually of Kelly Owens, director of education and outreach for the Congressional Black Caucus Congressional Black Caucus, organization of African-American members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Founded in 1970, it addresses legislative concerns of African Americans and other minority citizens, such as employment, welfare reform, minority business development, and expanded educational opportunities. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (est. Foundation. Our July 2003 article, "Black Men Can't Coach?" omitted Ron Dickerson Sr. from our historical listing of black head coaches. Dickerson, the chair of sports coaching for the United States Sports Academy (www.ussa.edu), was head coach of Temple University's football team from 1992-1997. Our annual feature on new BE 100S companies ("The Freshman Class," June 2003) erroneously listed Vanguard Holdings (No. 73 on the 2003 BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100 list) as a newcomer. Vanguard was ranked at No. 95 on the 2002 list. |
