Beatification beatification: see canonization. is one step away from canonization canonization (kăn'ənĭzā`shən), in the Roman Catholic Church, process by which a person is classified as a saint. It is now performed at Rome alone, although in the Middle Ages and earlier bishops elsewhere used to canonize. . The statement made in 'Designer Babies and Cloning' (Nov. 2004, p.30), that in 2003 Canada's Human Reproduction Bill banned human cloning for any purpose is incorrect. In the Bill 'cloning,' narrowly defined as somatic somatic /so·mat·ic/ (so-mat´ik) 1. pertaining to or characteristic of the soma or body. 2. pertaining to the body wall in contrast to the viscera. so·mat·ic adj. ceil nuclear transfer, IS indeed banned.
