Volusia County, Fla., is located on Florida's northeast coast and has a residential population of 443,000. Known for special events, including NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. The Volusia County government is seeking an experienced administrator/director to lead the Corrections Division of the Volusia County Public Protection Department. This position directs multiple facilities with an average daily inmate population of 1,600. With an annual budget of more than $30 million, 329 employees, including 251 certified officers, the Corrections Division has been a leader in jail population management for more than 20 years. Faced with the demands of a growing Florida county, the division anticipates the expansion of housing for an increasing jail population.
