Correction.


The issue of Sept. 10 incorrectly reported that the number of homes sold in August in Los Angeles County declined 50 percent from August of the previous year. The number should have shown a decline of 38 percent. Likewise, the issue of Aug. 13 reported that the number of homes sold in July in the county declined 11 percent. The number should have shown a decline of 29 percent. The errors resulted because a data collection system sometimes compared four-week months with five-week months. A fuller explanation is on Page 39.
