Correction.


In your otherwise fine article "The 'Hydrogen Economy'" (August 20 issue), it should read gaseous hydrogen will be produced at the negative pole, known as the cathode. And also read, similarly, oxygen will collect at the positive pole, or anode anode (ăn`ōd), electrode through which current enters an electric device. In electrolysis, it is the positive electrode in the electrolytic cell.
