Correction. While our March 1999 issue contained some excellent articles, regretfully re·gret·ful adj. Full of regret; sorrowful or sorry. re·gret ful·ly adv.re·gret , some flaws made it past the proofreaders' eagle eyes. The cover has Joseph Campbell Noun 1. Joseph Campbell - United States mythologist (1904-1987) Campbell as the author of the article on Edith Stein Edith Stein (October 12, 1891 – August 9, 1942) was a German philosopher, a Carmelite nun, martyr, and saint of the Catholic Church, who died at Auschwitz. In 1922, she converted to Christianity, was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church and was received into the Discalced , but in fact the author of that story is Lianne Laurence (and the article begins not on page 13 but page 12). Moreover, some mistakes caught by the proofreader were not corrected in the final copy. Readers may have been surprised to note, in News in Brief, page 30, that translators of the New American Bible History of the English Bible Overview Old English translations Lindisfarne Gospels Middle English translations Wyclif's Bible Early Modern English translations Tyndale's Bible Coverdale's Bible Matthew's Bible Taverner's Bible Great Bible changed "seahs of flour" to "measures of flower." Well, flower power aside, they weren't that radical; the mistake is ours. The text should have read "measures of flour"! |
