The Civil Jury: 200 Years Under Siege siege, assault against a city or fortress with the purpose of capturing it. The history of siegecraft parallels the development of fortification and, later, artillery.  (June June: see month.  2000, at 18) incorrectly identified the author of the book The Jungle jungle [Hindustani jangal=desert, forest; from Skt. jangala=wasteland, uncultivated land], densest form of tropical forest (usually second growth or later) found throughout tropical lowland regions. . That work was written by Upton Sinclair.
