Correction to article.

Dear Editor:

We were very pleased to see our article, "Aspen BCTMP BCTMP Bleached Chemi-Thermomechanical Pulp : Proven performance," appear in the November issue of Solutions! Aspen BCTMP is not as well known in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  as it is in our main markets of Europe and Southeast Asia, so we welcomed the opportunity to provide your readers with evidence of its excellent track record in a head range of applications.

We would, however, like to point out that a serious error was introduced into the article. The graphs on page 30 were incorrectly reproduced by your publication. Referring to our original submission, you will note that the uppermost line in Figure 1 ... pertained to a furnish of 30% 250/85 HB, not 100% US SMH SMH Sydney Morning Herald (Australia)

, as your legend indicates. All other lines in Figures 1 and 2 are similarly misnamed mis·name

having an inappropriate or misleading name:
in the legends, directly contradicting the text of the article and potentially leaving your readers with the incorrect impression: that a SMH BKP-only furnish produces better bulk and opacity Refers to being "opaque," which means to prevent light from shining through. For example, in an image editing program, the opacity level for some function might range from completely transparent (0) to completely opaque (100).  compared to a furnish with 30% BCTMP and 70% BKP.

As noted, the legends in Figures 1 and 2 of "Aspen BCTMP: Proven performance" by Ron J. Reds and Gregg Nielsen were reproduced incorrectly on p. 30 of the November 2001 Solutions! magazine. We regret the error: The corrected figures are shown here.
