SOUTHWEST AIRLINES ANNOUNCES NEW SERVICE; New Schedule Bolsters Service in the West

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- April 12, 1995--Southwest Airlines will add nine nonstop roundtrip flights to its schedule as of May 21, 1995. Cities targeted for the new service include Seattle Seattle (sēăt`əl), city (1990 pop. 516,259), seat of King co., W Wash., built on seven hills, between Elliott Bay of Puget Sound and Lake Washington; inc. 1869. , Spokane, Reno, Phoenix, Oakland, and Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

The flight increase is due to the acquisition of two aircraft from the lease market which Southwest has already taken possession of. The carrier has accepted delivery of seven aircraft so far in 1995 with 20 more expected by the end of the year. The airline has 18 additional aircraft scheduled for delivery from Boeing in 1996.

"With the addition of two aircraft to our existing fleet, we are able to offer the kind of frequency our Customers have come to expect from us -- particularly in markets which are still relatively new to us."

Southwest will add two roundtrips between Seattle and Spokane for a total of seven; two roundtrips between Reno and Phoenix for a total of three; one additional roundtrip between Reno and Seattle for a total of two; two roundtrips between Oakland and Las Vegas for a total of five; one additional roundtrip between Reno and Oakland for a total of eight; and one roundtrip between Oakland and Seattle for a total of eight.

With its new Ticketless system, Customers using any major credit card can experience the ease of traveling without needing a ticket. Southwest also is now available for booking through Sabre's Basic Booking Request, a new product designed to make it faster and easier for travel agencies to make reservations and print tickets for Customers.
