Corps of Engineers Celebrates National Public Lands Day at Lakes in Texas.FORT WORTH, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. -- The Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is commemorating the 14th annual National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, at seven of its lakes in Texas The following is a list of lakes in the state of Texas in the United States.
National Public Lands Day, sponsored by the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation, Inc., will be conducted at an estimated 1,100 sites this year. The Corps of Engineers has participated in the event since 1996 and has attracted more volunteers nationwide than any other agency. The Corps manages nearly 12 million acres of public land and water. "These are great volunteer opportunities for Texans who want to contribute to our treasures in the great outdoors.
