Corporate Purchase Agreement Allows Zimmer Gunsul Frasca to Standardize on SketchUp Software for Its Design and Presentation Needs.

BOULDER, Colo. -- Software Licensing Agreement Sets Precedent for Other Large Companies Using SketchUp

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership (ZGF) recently signed a corporate purchasing agreement with @Last Software, maker of SketchUp. @Last will now provide a site-wide license to ZGF to facilitate implementation and use of SketchUp software across the architecture firm's four offices.

With locations in Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles and Washington D.C., this 60-year-old planning and design business is home to more than 350 employees, many of whom depend on SketchUp for their drawing and presentation needs. While single-seat licenses work for many small-to-midsize organizations, says Trevor Taylor, ZGF's technology manager, ZGF required a more efficient means to keep SketchUp licenses up to date and fully operational enterprisewide.

"SketchUp is an integral part of our design and customer presentation workflow. It's become ZGF's design tool of choice, but we needed a more efficient way to ensure the software was always accessible to those requiring it," says Taylor.

Many ZGF employees using SketchUp on a daily basis regularly move in between and around the four offices, Taylor explains. To keep up with user demand and software licensing requirements, ZGF approached @Last Software to find an alternative to its existing network license set up. The two companies worked out a deal that now allows ZGF to install SketchUp firmwide. Using monitoring software to check license use, ZGF then provides @Last with quarterly usage updates.

"Basically, we're installing SketchUp as stand-alone software throughout ZGF. We've made SketchUp available to as many people as possible, turning it into our design and presentation standard," says Taylor.

For Taylor the benefits are multifold, but foremost among them is more time to concentrate on ZGF's other pressing technology and software concerns.
