Company description: Northwest Pipe Co. manufactures and
markets welded steel pipe in two business segments. In its water
transmission business segment, the company is a leading supplier of
large diameter, high pressure steel pipe products used primarily for
water transmission in the United States and Canada. In its tubular
products segment, the company manufactures smaller diameter, electric
resistance welded steel pipe for use in a wide range of construction,
agricultural and industrial applications.
Customers: In 1995, 63 percent of total sales were to contractors
or direct to public agencies for water transmission projects. Sales
of tubular pipe products are primarily to pipe distributors
throughout the United States and Canada, with a small portion of
sales direct to manufacturers.
Financial: In the first six months of 1996, sales rose 37.8
percent to $64.1 million and net income was $5.4 million, or $.97 per
share compared to $2.4 million, or $.71 per share in the first six
months of 1995. For the year end 1995, revenue was $97.7 million
with net income of $5.1 million, or $1.43 per share.
