Company description: National Power is the leading electricity company in the UK having over 20,000 MW capacity, 1,800 of which is gas-fired and the remaining mainly coal-fired. Total sales output for the year was 92 terawatt hours. It produces and sells electricity through the wholesale market, the pool, principally to regional electricity companies and also to large industrial/commercial customers.

It achieved profits before tax and the exceptional item of 735m pounds ($1173m) on revenues of 3953m pounds ($6307m) in the fiscal year ended March 1995. Before the exceptional item of (30)m pounds ($(48)m), profits before tax were up 16 percent EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) A PostScript file format used to transfer a graphic image between applications and platforms. EPS files contain PostScript code as well as an optional preview image in TIFF, WMF, PICT or EPSI, the latter being an ASCII-only format.  were up 17 percent and dividends for the year of 15.45p were up 24 percent.  adjusted figures show profits before the exceptional item of US$884. The final dividend of 44.4p will be payable to ADR ADR - Astra Digital Radio  Holders on Aug. 7, 1995. This figure will be translated into US Dollars at the exchange rate applicable on July 27.
