Anchoring Murphy's marketing program is its collaboration with Wal-Mart in which, as of May 2000, they have constructed and are operating approximately 160 Murphy USA gasoline stations in Wal-Mart parking areas. With an expanded marketing area including seven states in the Upper Midwest and Oklahoma, along with the Southeastern market, the program is on track to construct 150 stations during 2000. These outlets, which combine high volume sales with low operating costs, give Murphy a unique and profitable niche in the U.S. marketplace.
