Company description: Metrologic is a volume manufacturer of laser bar code scanning equipment. Founded in 1968, the company is recognized as a leader in laser technology, with a history of achievement that includes development of early laser bar code scanners A device specialized for reading bar codes and converting them into either the ASCII or EBCDIC digital character code. Pen scanners, also known as wand scanners, were the first type of bar code scanner developed in the 1970s.  and a growing list of U.S patents.

Today, Metrologic laser bar code scanners are sold in more than 80 countries through a worldwide network of distributors and resellers. Supporting this network are five U.S. sales offices, a sales office in South America South America, fourth largest continent (1991 est. pop. 299,150,000), c.6,880,000 sq mi (17,819,000 sq km), the southern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  and a European sales/service facility in Germany. This facility, near Munich, maintains large inventory and provides sales, service, repair and warranty support throughout all of Europe.

The company's product line of laser bar code scanners is designed to improve productivity in retail, commercial and industrial applications. These products, which rapidly read and decode all standard bar codes, range from in-counter and projection scanners to hand-held and wearable scanning devices. All Metrologic products are developed and manufactured at the corporate headquarters in Blackwood, NJ (eight miles from Philadelphia).

For its growth and success, Metrologic has been recognized as one of New Jersey's fastest growing companies and was named a 1993 and 1994 recipient of the Governor's Cup Governor's Cup can refer to:
