Corporate Strategy

Medis El was established with a view of utilizing cutting edge aerospace technologies having large potential markets in health care and related fields. One of its founders and still major shareholders is IAI, Israel's largest industrial company, wholly owned by the Government of Israel. Medis El's strategy, then, is to realize the enormous potential in medical technologies and products by acquiring the rights to innovative patents or ideas and bring them to fruition by applying the know-how developed in house for aerospace technologies.

Product Line

Medis El has three existing technologies: the CellScan System, the Neuritor, and the Linear Compressor compressor, machine that decreases the volume of air or other gas by the application of pressure. Compressor types range from the simple hand pump and the piston-equipped compressor used to inflate tires to machines that use a rotating, bladed element to achieve .

The CellScan System is the foremost of the company's technologies. Invented at Bar Ilan University and developed by Medis El scientists, the CellScan is a new state of the art multi-parameter, laser based cytometer that can repeatedly monitor the fluorescent intensity and polarization of individual living cells such as lymphocytes Lymphocytes
Small white blood cells that bear the major responsibility for carrying out the activities of the immune system; they number about 1 trillion.
. The CellScan offers a new way of capturing signals from very small and weak cells that no other existing equipment is able to measure. Analyzing reactions from those cells opens the door to early detection of cancers and auto-immune diseases. CellScan applications include research in detection of prostate cancer prostate cancer, cancer originating in the prostate gland. Prostate cancer is the leading malignancy in men in the United States and is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in men. , breast cancer, gynecological gynecological /gy·ne·co·log·i·cal/ (-kah-loj´i-k'l) gynecologic.  cancers, detection of auto-immune diseases, such as Rheumatiod Arthritis, altherosclerosis and AIDS, as well as testing to determine the efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs on tumor tumor: see neoplasm.  cells.

The Neuritor was also developed utilizing aerospace technology. It is a small, lightweight, high quality, hi-tech EEG EEG: see electroencephalography.  device significantly advanced in flexibility and quality and available at a cost which is substantially lower than currently marketed EEG equipment.

Medis El has filed for a patent for a revolutionary Stirling Cycle Linear Compressor. Such a compressor would be very advantageous for several applications, including: air-conditioning and refrigeration refrigeration, process for drawing heat from substances to lower their temperature, often for purposes of preservation. Refrigeration in its modern, portable form also depends on insulating materials that are thin yet effective.  units, cryo surgery and dermatology dermatology (dûrmətŏl`əjē), branch of medicine concerned with diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the skin. , and improving computer efficiency. It also has the significant environmental advantage of a sterling cycle which uses as working gas Helium helium (hē`lēəm), gaseous chemical element; symbol He; at. no. 2; at. wt. 4.0026; m.p. below −272°C; at 26 atmospheres pressure; b.p. −268.934°C; at 1 atmosphere pressure; density 0. , a natural gas found in the atmosphere which has no effect on depletion of the ozone. Early technological models have been successfully developed and Medis El is completing plans for a full scale working model.

Distribution

Medis El distributes its products to medical institutes and diagnostic clinics around the globe. The CellScan System has been placed at medical institutes in Israel, the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America South America, fourth largest continent (1991 est. pop. 299,150,000), c.6,880,000 sq mi (17,819,000 sq km), the southern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  performing research in early detection of diseases using the CellScan System. The Neuritor has been distributed to diagnostic clinics in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Medis El continues to strive to improve its technologies and discover new markets for its products through research and development and collaboration with renowned scientists in Israel and other parts of the world.
