Company description: Founded in 1983, Komag is the world's largest
supplier of thin-film media for hard disk drives, the primary data
storage devices used by computers. The company and its consolidated
subsidiaries, located in the United States and Malaysia, manufacture
the industry's most advanced disk products. Today over 70% of
Komag's disks are used in disk drives capable of storing 2 gigabyte
or more.
Recent Financials
For the fourth quarter of fiscal 1995, net sales totaled $153.5
million, up 16% sequentially compared to third quarter 1995 net sales
of $132.8 million. Net income for the fourth quarter of 1995 at
$38.2 million, or $0.72 per share based on 52.9 million shares, rose
26% sequentially compared to third quarter 1995 net income of
$30.4 million, or $0.61 per share based on an adjusted 50.1 million
shares. For the full year, net sales, net income, and earnings per
share increased 31%, 83%, and 68%, respectively, from 1994 to 1995.
