Company description: Headquartered in Mclean, VA., Internet Names
Worldwide (INWW) is a division of Melbourne IT Ltd., an Australian
company that supplies products and services such as domain names and
eCommerce solutions. Since 1997, INWW has been a supplier of a variety
of country code top-level domain (ccTLD) and generic top-level domain
(gTLD)names (.com, .net, .org). The domain-name system was
implemented in the mid-1980s and now employs approximately 250
"top-level domains" or "TLDs" (the string, such as .com, to the right
of the last period in the domain name).
In 1999, INWW was accredited by the U.S.-based Internet
Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to administer.com,
.net and .org domain names.
General manager Clive Flory has sucessfully overseen INWW's
expansion in the U.S., securing its global position in the realm of
internet domain names. Vice president of international operations,
Richard Tindall also assisted in the U.S. launch and will continue to
reaffrim INWW's global presence.
INWW's services include NameBuddy(TM), the only name generating
tool on the market that delivers a 99% assurance that the names
generated are available for registration; a secure service for the
bulk transfer of domain names; and multi-year and multi-character
domain name registrations.
INWW partners with businesses to provide them with back-end
registration systems to help them service domain name holder accounts.
INWW has over 500 partners worldwide; major partners in the U.S.
include Intuit and Verio.
