Company description:

Inter-Act, a Connecticut-based company formed in 1992, is developer of the Inter-Act Promotion Network, an electronic marketing network located in supermarkets. Interactive multimedia kiosk terminals located at the store entrance deliver targeted brand-sponsored promotions and recipes based on actual consumer purchase history. The system is linked to the POS (1) See point of sale and packet over SONET.

POS - point of sale
 scanning system and uses the retailer's existing card program to identify shoppers and track their purchase behavior at checkout. Participating brands plan promotional strategies for specific target segments based on whether the shopper is loyal, competitive or switches brands often. At the beginning of each shopping trip, when a card is inserted into the kiosk, the system matches the shopper's purchase history against these promotional offers and presents the shopper with the 40 most targeted and relevant offers which the shopper chooses by simply touching the screen. A clipless shopping list will print at the end of the selections. Offers are electronically verified and cleared at checkout.
