The Company began operation as a small cafe in rural Vermont in 1981, roasting and serving premium coffees on the premises. Green Mountain Coffee was soon providing local restaurants and inns with their coffee as well. While the cafe is no longer open, the Company now owns a 90,000 square foot state-of-the-art roasting and distribution facility in Waterbury, Vermont Waterbury is a town in Washington County in central Vermont.
