(application, communications) electronic funds transfer - (EFT, EFTS, - system) Transfer of money initiated through electronic terminal, automated teller machine, computer, telephone, or magnetic tape.
 Association (EFTA EFTA: see European Free Trade Association. ), is the nation's premier inter-industry trade association advocating the full development of electronic commerce and payment systems. EFTA was founded to assist Congress, Executive Agencies and the financial-services industry with legislation regulating consumer protection for electronic-payment transactions.

Today, entering its third decade of leadership, EFTA's mission is to advocate the advancement of electronic payment systems and commerce with diverse operations in a rapidly changing industry. Its member Forums include Electronic Commerce, Virtual Banking, Point of Interaction, and Public/Private Partnerships, exploring ways to use commercial payment systems to deliver government benefits.

EFTA also operates three industry Councils; the Electronic Benefits Transfer, Legal and Regulatory Affairs Regulatory Affairs (RA), also called Government Affairs, is a profession within regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, energy, and banking. Regulatory Affairs professionals usually have responsibility for the following general areas:
