Industry: Air Express Delivery

Company description: DHL Worldwide Express is the world's largest and most experienced international air express network. DHL was founded in 1969 as a service that sent ship's bills of lading ahead of the ship by using air service between San Francisco and Hawaii. Soon, the idea was expanded to the Pacific Rim and DHL started the international air express industry.

Today, DHL employs 36,000 people to serve 80,000 destinations in more than 200 countries. DHL's extensive worldwide coverage is supported by 1,900 offices. Over 80% of these offices are owned and operated by DHL, far greater than any other company in the air express industry. DHL is also a licensed customs broker
Customs Broker

in many of the countries it serves. These advantages result in faster transit times, streamlined customs clearance, effective tracking of shipments, and simplified billing. As a result, DHL has a significant advantage over other air express carriers who hand their customers' packages off to third party agents in foreign countries.

DHL offers both domestic and international air express delivery of documents and packages, an international re-mail service, and an extra-critical "same day" express service. DHL can send international dutiable shipments of almost any size or weight, door-to-door, virtually anywhere in the world.
