Industry: Wireless Communications Cataloger

and catalog shopping, Cellular Works has found a niche for its products.

Cellular Works, based in Hollywood, Fla., was started in 1993 by Richard Swerdlow and Andres Link, the company's principals. With careers in law and finance respectively, the two traded job security, suits and ties to become entrepreneurs in an emerging industry. Within the past three years the company has grown from 2 to 30 employees with annual sales of over $10 million by offering the widest selection of communications products through traditional print catalogs and electronic media. Recently, Cellular Works formed an alliance with SkyMall, the world's leading in-flight cataloger to become the exclusive provider of wireless products and services on most major airlines and the Amtrak Amtrak, the National Railroad Passenger Corp., authorized to operate virtually all intercity passenger railroad routes in the United States. Amtrak was created by Congress in 1970 in response to more than two decades of continuous operating deficits by privately run  Rail System.

"Wireless communications is one of the most promising technologies of the information age, continuously offering new and exciting benefits to individuals and businesses," Swerdlow claims. Cellular Works is presently negotiating contracts with several national service providers which will enable the company to offer cellular activations by mailorder in markets outside of Florida and New York New York, state, United States

While the industry giants are bidding on licenses and building networks, Swerdlow and Link are content on selling the hardware which enables consumers and businesses alike to utilize the systems, hence the company's tagline "Tools for the Digital Revolution."

With a state-of-the-art warehouse and fulfillment facility, Cellular Works offers next day delivery for all in-stock items. The company maintains a collection of inventory, including batteries, cases, antennas, chargers, hands-free kits and more, which arguably ar·gu·a·ble
