Company description: Bluebird bluebird, common name for a North American migratory bird of the family Turdidae (thrush family). The eastern bluebird, Sialia sialis, is among the first spring arrivals in the North. It is about 7 in. (17.8 cm) long.  Systems Inc. founded in 1982, is a leading provider of enterprise-scalable, document imaging software. The company sells its products worldwide to value-added resellers (VARs), systems integrators and select customers including such recognized organizations as Sears, Roebuck & Co., U.S. Freightways, Landstar Inway, McKesson Corp. and Caterpillar Financial.

Bluebird Systems' Imaging Division, formed in 1993, represents the company's entry into the emerging, client/server document imaging market, an application area which is expected to see exceptional growth throughout the next decade. The division's flagship product A primary product of a company, which is typically why the company was founded and/or what made it well known. For example, MS-DOS, Windows and the Microsoft Office suite have been flagship products of Microsoft. Originally developed by Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC SAIC - http://saic.com. ) for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , the imageABLE technology was acquired by Bluebird in 1992. Since then, Bluebird has continued to enhance imageABLE, releasing the current version 4.0 in mid-1996. The result is that, for the first time, corporate MIS developers and resellers can take advantage of component imaging and rapidly develop secure and enterprise-scalable imaging applications.

Another company division, System Software, is built upon the company's first product, SuperDOS, a multi-user operating system that continues to be a popular and cost-effective platform for business applications. In 1990, the System Software Division expanded its offerings to include training, marketing and customer support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services , coupled with the re-marketing of products such as operating systems, compilers, applications software and hardware.

Privately held, Bluebird achieved revenues of more than $10 million in the fiscal year which ended on Oct. 31, 1996. The company plans to continue its pioneering role in the component imaging marketplace by devoting a significant portion of 1997 sales to research and development efforts.

With a staff of more than 75, Bluebird Systems has headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif., and operates five regional sales offices nationwide.
