"These companies are partnering with VFI to better serve this at-risk group and provide them the opportunities, skills, and tools to achieve their full potential and obtain good paying jobs with benefits."

 youth and trains them to become part of the city's workforce. Through the Career and College Fair, the students have the opportunity to meet with local companies, organizations and schools to prove they can strive in a professional workplace. Thanks to these and other private sector partners, last year VFI placed over two hundred young people in jobs. The companies offer VFI graduates good starting wages and many with benefits. For example, some VFI students were hired at JPMorgan Chase as bank tellers and earned an average of $12 per hour, which often included health insurance.

The mission of VFI is to give economically disadvantaged young adults from all five boroughs the tools to achieve financial independence through academic and occupational training, counseling, job placement and retention. VFI is New York City's oldest, non-profit job training program for disadvantaged youth.
