Corporate Gameware Employs Humor & Fantasy to Help Users Learn Without Even Knowing They're Learning.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 1999--Learning about derivatives, corporate policies and procedures Policies and Procedures are a set of documents that describe an organization's policies for operation and the procedures necessary to fulfill the policies. They are often initiated because of some external requirement, such as environmental compliance or other governmental  has never been more fun than when using game-based learning technology from Corporate Gameware LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

For instance, Prensky was featured as part of think3's press conference in Burlingame, Calif. today. think3, a mechanical design upstart, commissioned Prensky and his team to develop "The Monkey Wrench Conspiracy," a Doom-like video game that quickly teaches mechanical designers how to design objects, such as home appliances, in 3-D.

"Infusing fun into the learning process results in much higher retention and processing rates - study after study has confirmed this," said Marc Prensky, founder and principal, Corporate Gameware. "Couple this with the fact you've got workplace populations skewed skewed

Transporting Users Into Learning World of Mystery & Intrigue

To survive, he must design everything he needs for the job (in 3-D, of course), starting with a simple trigger for his gun to destroy Dr. Monkey Wrench's robot assistants. Along the way, there are space walks, plenty of bad guys and booby traps. If a design is flawed, the player is temporarily disabled.

According to Prensky, "The idea is to get mechanical designers running fast on 3-D design, which up until now, has been very difficult to learn. That's the beauty of turning games into training tools. Handing employees 2- to 3-inch books on dry policies or intense software learning isn't effective. Games bring the level of engagement that's needed. Our goal is to make training, like `The Monkey Wrench Conspiracy,' that people want to use."

games and other software, all specifically designed to address a changing work force and bridge the chasm between "Baby Boomers" and the "Nintendo" generation.

"The younger generation grew up with a whole lot of different technology," said Prensky. "They're a different group of people in terms of their learning patterns, and games are second nature to them. When you factor in things like corporations sharing policies and procedures in a fairly dry manner with employees, it really does make sense to institute a new level of learning designed to capture people's imaginations, getting them to learn at the same time."
