This includes the shareholders, directors, and management of a company, as defined by the corporate charter, bylaws, formal policy, and rule of law. are all things a good director must possess, and Corporate Directors Forum is honoring San Diego's top directors with the Director of the Year Awards. Recognized for their efforts in the boardroom and behind the scenes, awards are given in the following categories: corporate governance; enhancement of economic value; companies in transition; corporate citizenship Corporate Citizenship The extent to which businesses are socially responsible in meeting legal, ethical and economic responsibilities placed on them by shareholders. The aim it to create higher standards of living and quality of life in the community in which it operates, while ; corporate governance, not-for-profit; and lifetime achievement. The awards will be presented Sept. 25 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. High respect, as that shown for special merit; esteem: the honor shown to a Nobel laureate. 2. a. Good name; reputation. b. as Director of the Year for Corporate Governance. * Donald E. Felsinger, chairman of the board, Sempra Energy Sempra Energy NYSE: SRE is a San Diego, California-based energy services holding company that was founded in 1998. Sempra owns the Southern California Gas Company, San Diego Gas & Electric, Sempra Commodities, and Sempra Generation. , honored as Director of the Year for Enhancement of Economic Value. * Steven Francis, chairman of the board, AMN Amn abbr. airman Healthcare, honored as Director of the Year for Companies in Transition. * Philip C. Blair and Mel Katz, Manpower Inc., honored as Directors of the Year for Corporate Citizenship. * Bruce Blakley, chairman, San Diego Foundation, honored as Director of the Year for a not-for-profit board. * Ron Taylor, director, various boards, recognized for Lifetime of Achievement in Corporate Governance.
