The research was based on interviews conducted by BTI with nearly 200 corporate counsel from Fortune 1000 companies throughout the U.S. Firms were judged in 20 separate categories, including client service, client focus, providing commitment to help, providing value for the dollar, understanding the client's business, among others. Participants in the survey named nearly 170 firms in at least one category. Based on this research, BTI developed a quantitative matrix to rank law firm performance, and found that Fortune 1000 clients were significantly happier, two to seven times happier, with 30 law firms than all other law firms named.
